About Emily Baum
I come from a very artistic family, where my creativity was always nurtured and celebrated. By the age of five, I knew I wanted to become an artist. I received a set of acrylics at 13, my first painting was a self-portrait. It looked nothing like me, but I remember being captivated by the way that color can portray emotion. I look back at that painting today and I can still remember how I was feeling at that moment. I love to paint portraits so I can share that experience with others. Whether it is a family member or a beloved pet, I try to capture their personality and mood through my art. We each have a story to tell, and I express that through the use of color. I feel that I have an intimate relationship with my subject matter and that is passed on to the viewer. My goal as an artist is to create a totally unique lasting memory that can last for years to come.
